About AABA Chicago |
In 1987 a spirited band of lawyers joined to form the Asian American Bar Association ("AABA") of Greater Chicago on the belief that a professional bar association could serve not only the interests of its members, but also the community from which its members came. AABA has continually reaffirmed its commitment to that belief and has grown to represent the interests of thousands of Asian American legal professionals and community members. Our mission includes promoting the professional growth of our members; mentoring law students and new lawyers, providing services to our local community; fostering the exchange of ideas and information among our members and community leaders; partnering with other minority organizations on common matters of concern; and offering policy recommendations on legal, social, political, and economic interests significant to our community. Please see our committees below. |
AABA is an affiliate of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association ("NAPABA"). NAPABA is an umbrella bar association comprised of local Asian American bar associations, as well as individual members. Since 1987 NAPABA's affiliate organizations have played a key role in publicizing and addressing Asian American legal issues. The affiliate organizations continue to be vital to NAPABA, alerting the organization to local issues across the nation and providing a reservoir of tested local leaders who can then contribute to and lead NAPABA at the national level.
