Please join us for an informal discussion of the Supreme Court's ruling in Trump v. Barbara, striking Executive Order 14160 as unconstitutional. AABA Chicago joined an amicus brief filed by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) in Trump v. Barbara on the side of plaintiffs, U.S.-born children subjected to the threat of losing their citizenship under the executive order.
The Court’s June 30, 2026 decision is an affirmation of the rule of law. As stated in NAPABA’s brief: “The plain text of the Fourteenth Amendment and longstanding historical precedent should lead to the inevitable conclusion that EO 14160 is unconstitutional.”
In addition to participating as amici, AABA hosted a series of educational events on birthright citizenship to raise awareness and facilitate dialogue on a legal topic significant to our community. Thank you to all who supported and participated in AABA’s efforts and advocacy on birthright citizenship.
